It will take a bit more information for me to jump for joy, but things definitely appear to be moving forward. The forums subdomain, which was previously removed, is back, and locked up as if it were in maintenance. More importantly, Klients lets homins log in and appears to have fairly recent user data, which means ryzom.com is run by the elusive new owners.
Still no word on who’s behind it. A head architect (HeadArch) shows up in Klients from time to time, but hasn’t been very loquacious. So we don’t know whether Catalyzers will be out the windows or if the game will be put up as is, in its current form. But there’s time to worry about development. The hopeful sign is, whoever bought it is rumored to be a homin who believes in the game. I chatted with Boroshi yesterday, who thought the low-quality picture put on ryzom.com’s cover page only indicates it was a low priority, and that the team was probably more concerned with getting the servers back online (which I’ve come to believe as well).
For those of you that rid yourselves of Klients, a copy of version 1.33 is available here. If you want to chat with hopeful homins, you can log in with your Ryzom user name and password. EDIT: link updated, should work fine now. Also make sure to set your game name in Klients by typing in, e.g. .set name Hekla (don’t forget the dot!).

The forums.ryzom.com address, where the player forums were, now points to an Atriumforums instead of nowhere.

Very nice.
I may have to bring a laptop with me during my yearly pilgrimage to the beach so I can keep up to date.

Quirks: Just make sure you’re using your in-game username and password. If that fails, that issue would be something for the forum moderators to look into.

Does anyone know of a Linux version of Klients? It doesn’t seem to work in Parallels.
Nice to see people taking an interest again, tho’ – was feeling a bit lonesome here.
*hugs all ’round*

Hello Lhyrs
I’m told to telnet into chat.ryzom.com:6001. You may have to set echo on and play with settings a bit, but that’s been the way to do it from Linux.
And by the way: I updated the link to Klients for Windows once again. Should work fine now, using the download link indicated in the post.

Hail and Well Met, fellow Artisans!
I’ve been sittin in Klients for a few days, good to see everyone coming in and out, and having some discussions about what is going on and the hopeful outlook of being able to set foot back on Atys. I myself am actually looking forward to it as well!
June 27th, 2008 @ 5:22 pm
Yep, Telnet seems to work fine, but will take a bit of tweaking to be usable. Heh, the next thing I will have to do — I hope — is learn how to get Ryzom client working in Linux. I DO wish someone would step up and give us some indication of what is happening behind the scenes. It’s all well and good to be mysterious, but It’s killin’ me here.

Hello Mythandri! Hopefully we’ll have some news about Atys some time soon, and find out exactly what happened that made us all refugees in remote and strange places across the universe.
Lhyrs, looking at this page, it seems Klients is based on the Mtp protocol. There was a GNU project for it, located here, and also a live project called cebmtpchat which has an Ubuntu executable. Let us know…

For those of you that may not have read it yet, here’s a link to the chatlog that gives a little information about vl, the Head Architect that’s been showing up in Klients. It looks as though the info he posted leads to here and this game and that company.

I keep wondering if that company that wanted to buy Ryzom as some sort of social behavior testbed won the bidding. If Spiderweb is a company that wants to make money selling Ryzom, their behavior is bizarre at best.
June 30th, 2008 @ 6:50 am
Yes, I’m wondering about this too, Riveit. The fact that it looks like the original Nevrax architect is back could be a good sign, but the absence of communication from the new owner frankly leaves me puzzled.
June 30th, 2008 @ 10:32 pm
Lhyrs: have you tried wxMtpChat? Kervala / Cédric has been developing it for the sole purpose of accessing Ryzom support chat on all platforms.

OOOO I like the new AA group picture header at the top of our site! Look at all of us!

The domains ryzom.com and nevrax.com were both altered yesterday. Domain owners were kept on both domains as “Nevrax”, but the address in Paris has changed.

Hekla, I just tried out wxMtpChat. Works great! Thanks for the tip.
July 8th, 2008 @ 12:35 pm
Nice to hear it worked, Lhyrs. Works on Windows as well, and also on MacOS.
ryzom.fr was recovered today, and is owned by Benoît Faure, Spiderweb International. The home page points once again to the same server as ryzom.com.

Aniro has been up more or less consistently over the past week. Leanon shows the Open status today as well. Naturally, the login server is still closed for now, so none of us can log in and dig; but perhaps this is a sign that some things are being sorted out.
