Had it already been sixty years since homins dared come up to the surface, the old bark of Atys? Yes, 2483. Sixty-two years… Were Trykers still alive who remembered it? So few even recalled the building of the temples, and the dreaded kitin invasions. But Lady Ailan had urged us to look towards what lay ahead of us.

The times our enemies could easily move around in our lands, under the noses of our People, have to come to an end! she had said, and Trykers had rejoiced. But then she had raised her hand and warned us all. Even more so, because I have recently been informed of a strange increase in Kitin activity. Trykers and friends of the Trykers stood thunderstruck. Surveillance camps had to be erected, she had urged. Materials needed to be gathered. Building materials delivered. It was time to build again, for our safety, and that of all hominity. This is a grand project, worthy of the architectural genius of the Tryker, which will assure that we will never again be taken by surprise! And they had all cheered!

Soon the defenders of New Trykoth set out to gather what was needed, keeping the delivery teams busy. Oh, the camps didn’t yet look like much, but they were slowly being put together, and would soon make us all proud, and most of all, keep us safe against the growing Kitin menace.

For the Kitins of the Depths had resurfaced, in many places all over the lands, white and ominous. When Marile  reported the presence of evil Goo in Darkmoor, which had already infected a Stinga, homins redoubled their efforts. The surveillance camps would have to be completed soon! Surely it wasn’t too late to prevent a full-scale invasion!

People of the Lakes! New Trykoth is counting on you and will reward loyalty! Tryka! Meer! Sella! Glory to the people!

In autumn of the 1st AC in 2546*, the leaders of the four peoples were each seeking to assemble their people. Thus it was that during that time, the town criers of the Desert Empire, of the Forest Kingdom, of the Federation of New Trykoth and of the Theocracy of the Witherings called for all homins to gather.

Following the announcements, Patriots, Subjects, Citizens, Initiates and non-citizens of all races met their respective leaders at the same time*, converging on the Agora in Pyr, the Yrkanis Stage, Fairhaven’s Frogmore Place and the Grand Place of Zora.

Even though none of the announcers gave reason for the meetings, rumor ran rampant across the bark of Atys. The activities of the imperial, royal, federal and dynastic agents gave reason to believe that the leaders were, each on their own, working on comparable projects and would be calling for their peoples’ help and good will in short time.

Hey Homins!

Well it’s been a while but never fear; I’ve been keeping my ear to the ground and keeping an eye out for all the latest news.

Just the other day I was at the bar in Fairhaven when I overheard two homins mention a name I’d not heard in a long time. The Famous Riffy Rithy of the Guild of Hawkers has been on a long expedition and is returning tomorrow. No doubt he’ll have many stories to tell from such a long journey. That’s one reason why a reporter like myself shall be making sure that I’m near Fairhaven stables at 8pm GMT (3pm EST // 12pm midday PST) on Thursday 15th Jan.

I also overheard that the expedition he was sent on was of great importance to the Guild of Hawkers. The chairman himself, Padger O’Toogh, has personally requested that Riffy report directly to him on his return. I wonder what it’s all about….

Main points of the discussion:

• The Arispotle Events team has been short on members. To help out with Events, a couple more would be needed. Boroshi is leading the team for now, and will try to make the event already staged in Aniro and Leanon happen before Christmas.
• Bringing more meaning to the civilizations. Each of the four civilizations will have events leading to the recovery of amber cubes (which hold the history and memory of Atys), and involvement of tribes in events is also planned. Additionally, player-based governments will be established. There is a broad outline for these events. Mention was made of the civilization languages (a reminder that a first translation of the Aniro Tryker language document is available here, for the hardcore homins).
• The lore site is being worked on as well, none of the old lore was lost or altered, and it’s planned to be moved forward (Some elements are available here, as you know). Numerous calls were made for events that would revive the lore.
• Atys-shaking changes won’t be happening for a little while yet, due to the developer’s team priority being mainly with bug-fixing and not with implementing new content yet. So the events are mainly roleplay, and won’t induce a change in gameplay for now.
• Crippling policies of the past will be made more lenient. The consensus at the meeting was to allow some Event team interaction with homins on Atys, even when no event is happening, or when the event is player-based.
• Soon. Skeptics have noted there is no timeline for development. The developers are working hard.

In the dark days of Tryker slavery, while many of the carefree lakelands people were held and killed, Loria stood forward to lead the fight against the enslavers. Relentless she was, and her actions to free more and more Trykers soon became a hindrance to Matis business. Her resistance was a year old already, when the Duke of Tylini took action to strike her down. With the help of Karavan telecommunication devices, rare relics on Atys, the Matis prepared the hunt.

The paths Loria took in Prime Roots were discovered, and so was her hideout. An ambush was prepared in a gully she often took to safely circumvent more dangerous areas. When her pursuers caught up with her, she was cornered; Pebre Freldo, leader of the group, challenged her in the name of Jena, for not accepting the rule of established power. Loria became visibly confused at seeing Trykers among the ambushers. While Matis and Tryker troops attempted to strike her down, it was noticed that she never dealt a fatal blow to her kin, but pursued her Matis opponents to the end. This allowed some Trykers to deal severe injuries on her; she eventually had to flee, a skill at which she excelled.

When she came to her shelter, a Yelk gas trap was triggered, which caused her downfall. Dissan Mac’Rinin, who participated in the hunt and was there to witness her passing away, relates that, as she lied agonizing, she glanced at him and asked: “Why?” Why did Trykers participate in this heinous act?

We are (very) proud to announce the return of official events to the Ryzom servers. The Fourth Events Team has been working for several weeks and is ready to lead Atys into the future, to restore life to the Saga. Events will return; either stand-alone or in long sequences, and along with you they will be writing and telling the history of all hominkind. In the near future, the Events Team also wants to give more weight to the Civilisations and give the homins that are most involved with this some more responsibilities and concrete roles ingame.

Some of your posts in the recent months have indicated that you are all eagerly anticipating the return of events and we hope to live up to your expectations. More than just events aimed at homins in general, we will try to create events that cater specifically to all groups of homins on Atys; whether Fyros, Matis, Trykers or Zoraïs, Kamists or followers of the Karavan, Marauders, Trytonists, old voyagers who have risen from the roots to the bark, or young refugees freshly arrived in the New Lands.

In order to get to know you better, we will be happy to meet with you in game or enter into discussions on the forums; this should let us get a better understanding of the expectations and hopes you have and the place that you would like to have in the future of Atys.

In the coming weeks, four events will be played on Atys to mark the return of the Event Team. There will be one event for each Civilisation; each story will involve some short “prologue” events and then one main evening event.

The Fourth Event Team

The Kami are incapable of recognizing anything that is not them. They see the beginning of time as the moment of their conception. When they speak of the universe they mean themselves, all else is the Void. They are the embodiment of the “Creative Energy”. That which is not part of their collective, only becomes noticeable once it has been transformed by the “Life Giver”. They are symbionts/pararsites that mutate the “Void” into “Life”. In short, they infect existing life forms and eventually gain dominance or possession over them.

Atys is the key to the Kami ability to fuse with other life. The Greening, the transformation of Atys into a living planet, opened a pathway for the “Life Giver” to manipulate existing life forms with the “seeds of existence.”

“From the bowels of the green planet…”, the core, the pre greening land mass, is where the Kami were brought forth. Endowed with the desire to transform all things not associated with the “Creative Force” they were incapable of dealing with the goo. The goo destroys/limits the ability of the Kami to dominate a life form, but the goo also damages the infected life form apparently to the point of destruction. The goo can remove the influence of the “Creative Energy” that even death can not remove, (which is why we respawn).

Homins while touched by the “creative force” are not controlled by the “fragment of consciousness”. We have free will. Homins are the bridge between the “Void” and “Creation”. We are life forms that can use the “Creative Energy” and not be dominated by it. We are the Void and the Energy. We are creatures of both worlds. Resilient to both the Goo and the “Consciousness”. Resistant, not impervious.

The Kami want us to save them from the threat of the Goo. Once the threat is destroyed, they will attempt to transform all of us, into them.

The Kami are a part of Ma-duk, they claim dominion of all the resources of Atys and argue that the planet’s natural resources are in a fragile balance. Their goal for Homins is to transform all of us into becoming one with their collective.

“Your destiny is linked to the life of Atys”, another reference to the inevitable death of the great plant? The Kami can not stop the goo without Homins and do not want to risk a Karavan led mass evacuation of the Homin populace. So they claim the Karavan are foreigners and as such should be destroyed. Remember, Homins are not native to Atys either.

As far as the Karavan stealing resources, has anyone ever seen or heard of the Karavan demanding tribute or payment that has exceeded the demands made by the Kami themselves?

It is through service to the Kami that one gains favor. One of the rewards is the most interesting line in the entire passage, “teleport through the corridors of time.” Is it possible that the Kami themselves were once Homins who have been sent back in time in order to “recruit” more Homins?

To the Kami ‘eternal bliss’ is through praise and service to an entity that only appeared after the swarming and the fall of the homin races.
